3rd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships 1975
(Melbourne, Australia)

The World's in 1975 were held in Calcutta, in the Netji Bose Stadium, a great distance from Melbourne, and it was a long and tiring journey fot those players who competed in both. Several teams who had entered failed to arrive. In consequence, both Team events were each played in single froup round robins—10 men's teams and 7 women's teams.

England again won all the Golds, with Australia 2nd and India in 3rd place in the Men's Team event. India was 2nd in the Women's event, when Shailaja Salokhe played exceptionally well to hit through US champion defender, Violetta Nesukaitis, of Canada to place 2nd and Canada 3rd. Trevor Taylor and Jill Hammersley won the individual Singles for the 3rd successive Championships.
